Eid-Ul-Jhuha is celebrated on 10th of last month (Jilhizz) of Hijri calendar. Eid-Ul-Jhula is also known as Eid-Ul-Ajha or Eid-Al-Adhah and also ‘Bakrid’ and ‘Kurbani Eid’. The word ‘Kurbani has been derived from Arab meaning ‘sacrifice’. Therefore, it is a festival of scarification. Like on the day of ‘Eid-Ul- Fitr’ on this day the followers go in the mosque and pay Eid prayer. On this day, they also hug the people. Then they halal (sacrifice) the animal like camel, sheep, goat etc. in hounour of ‘Allah’. The meat from a sacrificed animal is preferred to be divided into three parts. The one-third of it is kept by the family; the second one-third is given to relatives, friends and neighbours and remaining one-third is given to needy poors.

It is a five day festival which starts on 9th of Hijri in the month of Jilhizz with the ‘Sunnah prayers’ of two bloods followed by sermon (Khutbah). On 10th of ‘Jilhizz” scarification ritual of animal is performed. Eid- Ul- Jhuha celebrations start after the decent of the ‘Hijjaj’ from ‘Mount of Arafat’ a hill in east of Makka. The scarification may take place until sunset on the 13th of Dhu-Al-Hijjah with ‘Ashr prayer’. There are 23 prayers during this period i.e. 20 prayers from 9th – 12th day and 3 prayers on 13th day. This festival is celebrated to commemorate the great sacrifice. On this occasion, in the holy city of Makka prayers are paid to Hazrat Abraham, hazrat IsmailHazrat Ibraham and Hazrat Hazara, the wife of Hazrat Ismail and the mother of Hazrat.

According to context, Hazrat Imbraham is a paghmbhar ‘God’. He was ordered by ‘Allah’ that he sacrifice his beloved son Ismail in my way. About this, he told his son Ismail, and then Ismail made yes to his father in the honour of ‘Allah’. Hazrat Imbraham took Ismail in the field of ‘Meena’. He laid down his beloved son, bandaged his eyes so that he could not see the act of scarification and knifed the neck of his son. It has been mentioned in holy ‘Quran’ that Ismail was quite adult and however, Hazrat Abraham sacrificed his beloved son, to Allah. Allah liked this affection of Hazrat Ibraham and at the same time, Allah sent a sheep from heaven on that place by moving his son and thus Ismail was saved. Not only this, Allah given importance to this sacrifice by Ibraham and given a status of prayer by the scarification of an animal on this day every year. Not only this, where the Kurbani (scarfication) ritual was performed (at Meena) made important so that ‘Haji’ (devotees) offer such type of sacrifice to please ‘Allah’ so that man can sacrifice his psychological beloved objects.

The main objective of the festival ‘Eid-Ul-Jhuha’ is to become the partners who are poor and needy. That why, the sacrificed animal is divided into three parts and also offered to relatives, friends, neighbourers, poors and needy families. So, they can’t be at your doorstep to beg anything. In fact, the purpose of order or instructions was to establish a sense of equality in the society and to involve the neighbours and poors for happiness. Kindness and concern for the poor or take care of their needs is one of its objectives. It is clear that the creation of good society is a special contribution to the spirit of sacrifice and dedication. By promoting unity and brotherhood in the society contribute in the progress.
