Home tract: Salt Range areas of District Rawalpindi Attock, Chakwal, Jhelum and some parts of Balochistan.

Morphological characters

Body: Short structured animals with compact body, with powerful musculature.

Body coat: Light or dark brown tawny and cream colour. The neck, shoulders and face usually covered with thick layer of hairs especially during winter Being suitable baggager and ridding animals

Head: Short

Neck: Long, fine

Legs: Short legs and hard pad feet; hence known as the best baggager and hardworking animals but of slow speed

Morphometric traits

Average body weight:  Calves – 40 kg; Adult males – 565 kg, females – 561 kg

Reproductive traits

Gestation length: 375 days

Age at first calving: 1600 days

Calving interval: 724 days

Service period: 423 days

Dry period: 449 days

Production traits

Milk production per lactation: 2463 kg

Lactation length: 300 days

Remarks: The height and weight of these camels are less as compared to the camel found in irrigated tract. They are raised as efficient means of transportation in remote areas.
