Country: Pakistan, Afghanistan

Home tract: Khurasan region of Killasaifula and Zhob districts of northeastern Balochistan and the nearby Afghan provinces of Paktika, Ghazni, Zabul and Qandhar.

Morphological characters

Body: Large and barrel like

Body coat: Coat colour changes from fawn in the summer to brown in the winter.

Eyes: Long eye lashes, dark brown retina

Legs: Black toe nails

Average body weight:  Adult - 373.99±3.51 kg

Body length: 139 cm

Heart girth: Male - 175.92±0.22 cm

Abdominal girth: 243.81±1.80 cm

Height at withers: 164.34±0.45 cm

Neck length: 81.85±0.49 cm

Reproductive traits

Age at maturity: 3.0-3.5 years

Gestation length: 375-386 days

Calving interval: 2-3 years

Production traits

Daily milk yield: 6-10 kg per day

Lactation length: 10-12 months

Wool production: 3.0 kg per annum

Remarks: It is well adapted to the ecosystems and climatic extremes, the brackish water and the salty vegetation. They possess good climbing ability in mountains (wide chest and wide cannon bone) and also long travelling ability. Thick milk is special trait, one of the most thick milk in camel breeds. They can eat the bitter taste plant Artemisia.
