Riverain Camel

Home tract: Areas with good rain fall, plenty of water supply and good pasture with abundance of vegetation. These are found in areas of Uttar, Pradesh, Punjab states and around both banks of Indus river.

Morphological characters

Body: Very heavy set and have big structure

Body coat: Short, thick and rough

Nose: Roman nose

Neck: Long heavy and strong

Quarters: The hind quarters are comparatively less developed.

Legs: Long heavy and strong. The foot pads are oval and soft.

Remarks: These animals are good baggage animals but slow and sluggish. Riverain camels thrive very well in the semi arid areas.
