Home or breeding tract: South-east Albania - Lake Prespa

Morphological characteristics

Body colour: Grey-greyish blue; brown-reddish, brown-ocre, sometimes dark hair coat often coarse and sometimes shaggy. Mucous membranes grey-black, pink when crossbred with Illyrian cattle.

Markings over body:

Face: Long and narrow nose with muzzle

Eyes: Relatively large eyes

Horns: Short, bent front-inwards or up-inwards; grey or white with black tips

Morphomtric parameters

Body weight: Adult male 230 - 250 kg, female 120 - 150 kg

Height at withers: Male 120-125 cm, female 95 - 105 cm

Production traits

Lactation period: 280-310 days

Milk production per lactation: 850-1100 kg

Remarks: The body of the animals is sometimes slightly higher at the croup that at withers. As often found in original animals, the breed shows a distinct sexual dimorphism.
