Injury to the female reproductive tract can following coitus, dystocia; artificial insemination, or even sadistic trauma and sexual abuse. In mares the hymen can be torn during breeding of maiden mares leading to vaginal bleeding. Abscesses in the perivaginal area can interfere with defecation. Evisceration through a severe tear might occur. Perivaginal fat can protrude through a vaginal laceration in cattle.

Symptoms: Agalactia or dysgalactia; Anorexia (complete, partial); Colic; Decreased amount of faeces (constipation), absent faeces; Dullness, depression, lethargy, depressed, lethargic, listless; Dysuria, stranguria; Fever; Foul odour (smell) skin; Foul smelling vulvar, vaginal discharge; Haematuria; Haemorrhage of any body part, clotting failure; Inability to stand, prostration; Pollakiuria; Internal abdominal mass, swellings, adhesions abdomen; Necrosis of vagina, vulva; Pain in vulva, vagina; Pelvic or perineal swelling (mass); Prolapsed vagina; Proteinuria; Purulent discharge from vulva, vagina; Red, brown, pink urine; Skin laceration, cut, tear, bite; Sudden deathswelling (mass) of cervix, uterus; Swelling (mass) in vagina; Swelling (mass) in vulva, clitoris; Tenesmus, dyschezia; Vaginal, cervical ulcers or vesicles, erosions, tears, papules, pustules; Vulval ulcers or vesicles, vesicles, erosions, tears, cuts, pustules, papules;
